The new album is superb! - A deliciously downtempo masterpiece, in my very humble opinion. This could be a good place to buy it, when officially released...

Hey Tim, edited your comment, so it doesn't link the whole piece. Thanks for the short review!

Bugger. Didn't mean to make that all a hyperlink. It's not like I use html every day of my life or anything!

Hi, we do have a <a href="http://www.channel4.com/music/blog/index.jsp?id=78" title="it's here" rel="nofollow">permanent link</a>. It automatically archives:
I'm sure some people are probably frustrated that I didn't give a 'proper' review but we just don't do that sort of thing on there. But it is amazing, though it's taken me a while to get used to the not-live versions. 'Cooking' sadly doesn't have the crazy rap ending. It's a much gentler song on CD. The intro (and outro) to Dr. Abernathy is, I reckon, the most perfect thing Green's ever put to disc. 'Petrococadollar' is also pretty stunning. Another gentle sighing song. The whole record is a lot softer than you might expect from the live arrangements - even 'E11th Nuts'. ''Road To Regret' manages to sound like 'Watermark'-era Art Garfunkel (this is a very good thing, of course). 'Mrs Hughes' is nuts, another with loads of different musical sections and movements and ridiculous lyrics yet still very very melodic and harmonic. I know I'm skipping tracks but there's just so much going on on this album that I haven't begun to formulate opinions on a lot of it other than "wow" "gosh" and "blimey".

It's an incredible piece of work and one that will stand up to years of listening. I loved A&B but it was very much of one mood, if that makes sense. This is a far more complex, inventive and rewarding record.
