A collection worth having

This might be the most complete Scritti Politti collection i’ve ever seen, ranging from the very first singles to special editions of Anomie & Bonhomie. Multiple versions of each single, album, cd limited editions, posters… even a gold record for Cupid & Psyche. John got all these photo’s from Mitsuo from Japan.

Great collection, but he seems to be missing the French one-sided 12″ promo of “Lover To Fall (Remix)” that I recently acquired…

The danger of this sort of thing is that we all end up sounding as if we’re competing! Mitsuo (and John, by the sound of it) have all sorts of stuff I don’t. However, there are various rather dull 12″ white label promos I have knocking about somewhere (from the Cupid and Psyche singles and She’s a Woman/Take Me In Your Arms) - these wouldn’t have made good photos so it’s possible Mitsuo just didn’t bother to send those shots. I have a different design of folding card promo box to the ones in the photos as well!!

Each collection has it’s own accents. I see very interesting things in this marvellous collection but i also miss quite a bit obvious items (Faithless/ Asylums in Jerusalem / Wood Beez / Absolute / Hypnotize / Perfect Way 7″ - 12″ - picture discs). But hey, this is not intended to be a competition. Mitsuo is a cool guy (we met at the Luminaire), i am pretty sure he is not showing off, he just wants to share this with us.

My collection contains one VHS video ( a compilation- don’t sweat people, you are not missing anything!), two vinyl albums, one casette album, one mini disc album, four 12″s and one 7″ and I am very pleased with it, especially since I started it at the age of 11 with no pocket money!

I think my scritti 12″ were the first I ever had, I remember turning them over and over in my hands.

We don’t have a larger picture, i have no idea what single that is above Sugar Sugar. That packaging hasn’t really aged well, i must say. Which doesn’t go for the scritti packaging. Still love the C&P cover!

The single above Sugar Sugar is in fact… Sugar Sugar! - that’s a copy with the same sleeve as the one I have. It’s the pink one that I had never seen before!
