Oh yes, and thank you Green for co-writing 'Hands Up', a song both me and my teenage son can enjoy.

'The Word Girl' is a masterpiece, but my favorite Green song is the first Scritti song I ever heard-'Hypnotize'. It grabbed me then and has never let go. It's amazing how fresh it still sounds lo these many years.

What Joe said. So there! :p ;)

It's a common mistake (more than a few reviewers have even misquoted the title as being Come on feel the Illinoise), but you need look no further than the CD spine.

Just for fun - if anyone here were asked to supply a Celebrity Playlist for iTunes, which Scritti Politti track would you go for? I'd say "The 'sweetest girl'" would probably be the obvious choice, but I think I'd select "The word girl." It still gives me goosepimples.

The Sufjan Stevens album title is Illinois. He's doing an album for each of the 50 states, although he has done only 2 so far. The confusion lies with the album cover which is more of an introduction than a title. It is a wonderful album. I use it as a mood elevator. He has the longest song titles I've ever seen!

Great list, although they misspelled the Sufjan LP title (it's Illinois, not Illinoise!). I've always thought "Surf's up" would make a great Scritti cover, oddly enough (that or "'Til I die").

Gotta pull out my copy of Cut now...

Interesting list. Personally I prefer Joni's 'The Hissing of Summer Lawns' which still blews my mind. And it's good to see Parliament in that list. I am a huge funk fan too ;)
