Earlier this week I saw WBBB prominently displayed in my local HMV with the other Mercury nominees. By contrast, I tried to buy it in its week of release in that same shop and it was not even available. So I'm grateful for that even though I still think the music world is not enhanced by awards.

Yep, I was dancing at the front too Richard. I think I'd got over the 'can't believe this' of seeing Green live having seen him at Hay before. There were 2 right miserable buggers near me - the woman of the couple kept making comments about the sound balance and was clearly not a fan and determined not to enjoy herself. Happily I could ignore her and was having a great time with a stupid grin on my face all the way through.

I was right at the front and danced all night, as did the person next to me. I only stopped to take pics!

Congratulations! Granted, all those awards things are kind-of icky, but still - it's nice that such a great album is getting some well-deserved recognition. As for the other nominees, I had no idea Lou Rhodes had an album out (I'll definitely be hunting for that one) but...

...Muse? Really?! Ugh.

This made my day, WBBB is so layered and excellent, the indy today mentioned the beats specifically and that's the best thing about the CD - the beats are genius.

Re: no dancing at Oxford Zodiac. The band played mostly WBBB tracks and I reckon they're pretty much undanceable. I think that the other factor was that a lot of people there were getting their head round seeing Green play live.

The other impression I had at Oxford was that the audience was pretty young and that was great to see.

It is good news. I'm surprised to see WBBB on the list because the album clearly isn't in there as a token example of a particular genre (the token 'folky', the token 'modern classical', the token 'world-music-influenced', etc.) so must be included just because those nominating/shortlisting actually enjoyed it. Can't be bad. (Sorry, but I still don't think it will win - it doesn't win enough coolness points for those who know about it.

I doubt whether GG will be much troubled by winning or not winning, but it is certain that this is huge publicity and should get a lot more people listening to the music (and therefore buying it). No more worries about losing the home, then?
