Many, MANY thanks for sharing the first Scritti Peel session, I've been looking for it since the mid-90s & figured I was NEVER going to hear it. Fantastic stuff too, any idea why it's not on the Early CD?

Hello again. It's now a couple of weeks later so the shows containing the 1982 session aren't up on the BBC website's Listen Again section anymore. Marc Riley read out all of my long-ish email about the band and the session, bit by bit during the week, and played the session versions of "Jacques Derrida", "Gettin', Havin and Holdin'", "Lions After Slumber" and "Asylums In Jerusalem". He only does one song per night, Monday-Thursday so missed out the version of "A Slow Soul". In case anyone's interested, I've managed to grab recordings of the four that he did play - not sure what to do with these.

Hi! I intended to post this information in plenty of time but have now been caught by surprise so I'm a bit late! Sorry.

I sent in a request to the Marc Riley show on BBC 6 Music (digital radio) to hear the very rarely heard David Jensen session by Scritti Politti dating back to the 'Songs To Remember' era. I got a positive reply from an impressive member of the show's small production team in which he said that the session would be played one song per night during one week of November.

Anyway, he now tells me that it's been 'shunted forwards', so it started with one song last night. (I missed it!)

There'll be more of the session each night this week (Oct 26th - 29th). Then for the next week it will be possible to listen to any we missed using the BBC website's 'Listen Again' feature.

I hope a few people get to hear these versions of wonderful stuff from the first album. As the band never toured at that stage, this is the closest we'll ever get to hearing 80's Scritti Politti live, I think.
